The Youth Alive Foundation

Our Story
Youth Alive knows its beginning in the year 2000 as a youth group within ‘Sacro Cuor’ parish in Sliema as a result of a youth ministry commenced in 1996. In 2004 the group moved on to the Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq community where it was asked to offer voluntary youth services. Following a year of formation in Franciscan Spirituality, thirteen youths took their commitment within the ‘new’ Youth Alive on Pentecost Sunday of 2005. In 2007, Youth Alive was established as a Foundation, with its centre ‘Dar Frate Jacoba’ situated in Marsaskala.

Our Vision
The aim of the Foundation is to offer hospitality to youth and people coming from any social environment, who are ready to integrate with the community found at Dar Frate Jacoba, by sharing a common life with it, including work. The concept of permaculture is considered the best able to create the environment in which the principal aims of the Foundation are reached. This, in accordance to our understanding, will be of benefit to it and of all those that have a direct experience with it, and also implements a mentality that is in favour of the environment and the sustainable use of its resources.
